This armchair criticizes the objectification of the female body
.Long, thin legs. Taut skin. Curves in all the right places - an armchair by Poland's Wamhouse Studio aims to draw attention to questionable female beauty ideals.
The anthropomorphically shaped armchair is decorated with arrows and dotted seams. They mark "unwanted" curves and thus remind of the sketches of a plastic surgeon. The cantilevered "Nagababa Armchair" (Polish for "naked woman") was designed by Mariusz Warsinski based on the sculpture Maestà Sofferente by Gaeteano Pesce. Even Pesce's design was not about a critique of the pursuit of perfection, but about gender inequities. In 2012 the first drafts of the socio-critical armchair were created, and now a revised version in black and white has been realized.
The armchair was created by designer Mariusz Warsinski for the Polish Wamhouse Studio.
