As some have already noticed on my Instagram account (helena_hypnotized), I bought an old bike and gave it a new shine. Since a few months I am approaching the topic of sports. To this end, I have already signed up at the gym and now wanted to try cycling on the sunny days. The bike was a real bargain that I discovered by chance online.
In order to increase my motivation and to get back into the swing of things, the bike was first brought up to scratch. To do this, first the wheels had to be pumped up and then it was schrupt and washed. In a skatershop I got me 2 spray cans (1 clear lacquer spray and 1 gold lacquer spray) of the brand Montana Cans (for about 5 euros per paint). Optimally, you should sand the wheel completely before painting, so that the paint lasts longer and better. But since the paint on my bike was as good as new and sanding it down is really time-consuming, I decided to omit this step. After cleaning and masking off the lights, saddle and co, the bike was sprayed with glossy clear lacquer, which works well as a base. When the paint dried, I was finally allowed to get down to business and spray it with the gold paint. It's really a lot of fun and the effect couldn't have been better. After the paint has rocked about 1 week, it went already immediately with the first bike tour to the picnic on the Main.
Also take an old bike as a test object, because it is not bad if the result does not look as desired. Painting took no more than 1 hour and the number of cans was enough for the whole wheel. Painting is very easy! It is important that you have as much distance to the wheel as possible, so that the paint is applied evenly. If you have painted a spot that you didn't want to paint, then you will have to scrub over it with a wet brush. With little effort and funds, you can achieve a great effect in this case.
I am so positively surprised by the result that I am considering spraying some furnishings with rose gold or copper paint. :)
