Summer 2018 is not letting us down at all, at least in Berlin. Already since May we have tropical feeling in the capital, so no wonder that we are drawn to the outdoor pools of the city. In cooperation with OTTO.de we have picked out the most amazing swimming pool essentials that should not be missing from any pool in the world this summer.

We're going for stylish classics with a little retro touch when it comes to the pool look, but of course a few so-called it-pieces to show off by the pool shouldn't be missing. We admit it right away, a little bit of being seen and being seen between Piña Colada and Pommes Schranke is always in style at the local outdoor pool or on vacation.

FUN FACTS AROUND THE POOL

Whoever thought that the history of the pool goes back to U.S. flicks in the 80s must be proven wrong at this point. The Greeks, Egyptians and, of course, the Romans already had man-made swimming pools that were used for swimming and bathing. In the Middle Ages, however, swimming pools were considered frowned upon and almost obscene, so that in those times bathing fun came up a bit short. It was not until the 20th century that swimming pools became very popular, even in private homes. Incidentally, the largest open-air swimming pool is located in Sharm ash-Shaykh in Egypt, with a size of 12 hectares. The largest German outdoor pool is the Brentanobad in Frankfurt am Main. To conclude the nerd knowledge, now follows the small hint that the notorious cocktail Swimmingpoolcomes from no less a bartender than Charles Schumann from 1979.

UNSERE POOL-MUST-HAVES 2018

I A towel is more than essential in the outdoor pool. We chose this classic stripe towel from Marco Polo in green.

II For a long time, Jette Joop has been a successful and, above all, affordable fashion label. We bet on the absolute eye-catcher swimsuitin black and white. Particularly refined is the crossed front and back neckline.

III For bathing fun for young and old, this monstera print swim banner in pastel colors will provide in any case. Ideally, a pump should be used to inflate it, we speak from experience! J

IV No pool without bathing shoes. Flip-flops were yesterday, from now on we are team Lacoste-bad shoes!

V Kids rule the world or something. In the team heart&blood may not be missing of course Jules son Justus. We chose these cool kids swim trunks from S.Oliver for bathing.

VI So classy! Who doesn't love him the white bathrobe in the hotel? We have found the light version for the summer! Be careful that nobody takes it at the poolside!

VII Show me what you got! Also this summer net bag as accessories persists, why not?

VIII Music must not be missing, of course! These super compact speaker boxes from Bang & Olufsen are a hit when you're on the go and are guaranteed to fit in any carry-on luggage.

IX In the summer absolutely indispensable is of course the sunglasses, we put here on model Coachella by ROXY for the perfect view.

X Red or gold? Statement earrings are back! We've been missing the big bling a bit and couldn't decide which to go with. Both pairs are definitely eye-catchers!

XI May it be a little beauty? For our pool essentials, we're going all-out red. Dior's "Rouge Dior" lipstick, along with Chanel's "Joues Contraste" rouge and Chanel's classic "Le Vernis" nail polish, is more than just a statement! We love it!

XII Safety first! Even if we put on the retro look, the sunscreen must not be forgotten, but this looks at least from the package a bit retro!
